After a few designs which failed, i decided to restart my lair. My lair is designed as an underground secret base, which entrance is hidden within a small hut / house. Having designed the environment already i am currently working on the hut which i will then combine with the environment designs and underground lair designs which are currently on other 3d s max file saves.
Here is a JPEG snapshot of the hut i have designed without mapping or texture added to it.
The entrance to the underground lair will be hidden within the hut as a staircase, i still have to add windows some furniture and other details to the hut which represent my villain.
For my pathway i think i am deciding on 3D environments,
This is because I can see my self in games design as a career choice and this pathway suits that career the most out of the 3 to choose from.
Though i am also interested in flash and web design, its a shame we cannot explore that subject further next year too and since i have to choose between the two i opt 3D environments as my pathway.
For research for my pathway i have looked at several magazines as well as buying my own copy of computer arts. I have had a look into 3D Design magazine and other 3D visualisation and designing mags which focus on the subject. Though i found when i looked in some of them they seem to be using a different software for design called Cinema 4D which is not appropriate since we use 3D studio max for designing therefore i cant create most tutorials shown in certain magazines though the work and designs were still interesting.
The issue of computer arts magazine that i bought, focused on the design issue "Handmade vs Digital". This meant handmade and digital in terms of design techniques and preference for designers, where they have used examples of current practitioners and interviewed them to ask there opinion on whether handmade techniques or digital techniques are "better" in there opinion and practises.
The magazine also provided a tutorial on how to make your sketches and cartoons into 3D figures but the tutorial also used the software cinema 4D which meant i couldnt follow it up.
Possible in the future that i will most probably find my self a copy of Cinema 4D software since many of my mags are showing tutorials which i cant follow up !
Sorry for not posting in a while been caught up with trying to get the grips of 3D studio Max.
